According to the website of “Christians United for Israel” (CUFI) a number of members of Congress, Jewish community officials, and even a senior Israeli diplomat are speaking at their conference this week.

This is disturbing, because CUFI advocates policies that are bad for Israel, bad for America, and bad for peace. For example, they oppose Israeli territorial concessions in negotiations and push for a more bellicose U.S. approach to Iran.

It is doubly disturbing given the record of bigotry of that organization’s Founder and National Chairman, Pastor John Hagee. Among other reprehensible statements, Hagee said that Adolph Hitler was an instrument in God’s hand to push Jews from Europe to the Promised Land. He has also made appalling disparaging statements about Catholics and other minorities.

As my boss Debra DeLee said: “Friends of Israel should have realized by now that Pastor Hagee is not kosher. His political positions and his outrageous public statements are not ones that benefit Israel, its security or its wellbeing.”

UPDATE: I just saw Richard Silverstein’s post on the CUFI conference. Check it out.

Odd how “progressives” get agitated about Hagee, but they fell all overthemselves praising Arafat and his fellow FATAH terrorists, calling them “peace partners” all the while his official state-controlled media was calling on his population to kill Jews and he his FATAH-Tanzim gangsters were arming suicide bombers.
    Mixed-up priorities.
