As those of you who visit this space with some frequency are doubtless aware, much of our interchange is a half-step removed from the gritty reality “out there.” We talk about the meaning of the term “Jewish state,” about the position of its Palestinian citizens and other such lofty topics. I believe such interchange is at the very least interesting, and I even allow myself to believe it may be useful.
But then a bomb bursts just outside the window, and attention must be paid.
