This week, a bit of a departure: What follows is an amended version of my OpEd piece for this week’s Forward. Curiously, I imagined before I began this series for APN that my contributions here would run about 500 words, slightly more than half the length of my columns in the Forward (which I’ve been writing since 1990.) As it has turned out, however, the freedom provided by the electronic medium invites longer (I hope not merely less disciplined) reflections than the print medium allows.
